Empowering Transformation: A Success Story in Collaboration with SMU Academy and TRC

In the wake of the global challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Singapore Management University’s professional training arm, SMU Academy, embarked on a mission to cultivate resilience and empower individuals within the Singaporean workforce. In 2020, SMU Academy launched the SGUnited Skills Business and Digital Transformation Programme, specifically tailored to uplift mid-career jobseekers and the self-employed, ensuring they were well-equipped to navigate the dynamic demands of the contemporary business landscape.

Recognizing the need for continuous improvement, SMU Academy sought the expertise of TRC in 2021 to revamp and enhance the entire curriculum for the SGUnited Skills Programme. TRC’s involvement spanned beyond mere curriculum redesign; it encompassed the engagement of skilled trainers and mentors, the inclusion of esteemed panelists from the venture capital world, and a meticulous redevelopment of the curriculum. The objective was clear: to seamlessly connect the 35 modules across the Mindset Transformation, Digital Transformation, and Business Transformation phases.

Over the course of six transformative months, more than 70 participants underwent a journey that transcended traditional learning boundaries. TRC’s dedication to excellence ensured that each module not only stood independently but also contributed cohesively to the overall transformation experience. The collaborative effort between SMU Academy and TRC bore fruit, as the participants emerged not just as skilled professionals but as entrepreneurs ready to conquer new horizons.

The success story of this partnership is best told through the stories of the 70 graduates who, armed with their newfound skills, ventured into diverse fields, many choosing to embark on the entrepreneurial path. These individuals didn’t just graduate from a program; they became architects of their destinies, creating their own success stories in the process.

The program aligned with SkillsFuture Singapore’s (SSG’s) mission, contributing significantly to the upskilling and reskilling of Singaporean citizens and permanent residents.
